Activities

Across the week, the AIP Congress will feature a vibrant program of activities designed to bring the community together. As planning progresses, new offerings will be added here. Highlights include free public lectures, the 2026 Congress Dinner on Sydney Harbour, networking breakfasts, an early registration day, and opportunities tailored for teachers and schools.

Congress Dinner

Wednesday, 9 December
7.00 pm – 10.30 pm

A highlight of the AIP conference, especially for those travelling to Sydney from afar, the AIP Dinner offers an opportunity to celebrate and recognise physicists from across Australia and New Zealand, through the AIP and ANZOS award ceremonies.

Set across three decks and travelling on calm harbour waters, this unique experience will take delegates and their guests on a three-hour cruise around Sydney Harbour.

The Australian Physics Teachers Day

The Australian Institute of Physics and its Physics Education Group offers a day of inspiration for Physics teachers and teachers of Physics (out-of-field). Join us for a day of professional development, from talks to practical workshops, with something to use in your classes. We are excited to provide tours of research labs working on quantum computers to next-generation solar cells. Networking and panel sessions round off an exceptional day, recharging and energising yourselves.

Australian Physics Career Fair

The Australian Physics Career Fair is designed to connect undergraduate, honours, master's, and PhD physics students, early-career physicists, and graduates with employers, industry leaders, and organisations. The event showcases how physics skills can lead to diverse and rewarding career opportunities.

The Career Fair will provide an opportunity for students to explore career pathways, meet potential employers and gain practical advice on leveraging their physics skills in the workforce. The program will also include professional development opportunities, including sessions focused on preparing for a wide variety of careers.

As part of bringing together physicists from across Australia and around the world, Congress will feature a range of specialised workshops designed to foster collaboration, share expertise and build connections.

With the generous support of our host, the University of Sydney, we are pleased to offer a variety of workshops held on campus that may be of interest to you.
